The Rockwall County Sheriff's Posse is composed of volunteer citizens who agree to provide their time and financial support in order to donate an added dimension to public safety in Rockwall County.
It is designed to follow military rules and regulations in order to provide a cohesive and well trained resource in several areas of service and protection to the community.
The Posse is used in parades to show the flag of our country and our state and to symbolize the pride that we all have for our heritage.
In emergency situations, the posse will be utilized for response to natural disasters, weather emergencies, some major traffic accidents and the rounding up of livestock which has broken out of pastures.
It is used as a very efficient tool for search and rescue of rural settings, crowd control in case of insurrection, general assistance in extended field operations, and parking lot surveillance during community activities.
